Monday, october 23nd, 2023.- The Olympic swimming pool at the Estadio Nacional hosted the continent's most outstanding swimmers on Monday, and the United States team shone brightly.
In a day that yielded nine medals, it concluded with the triumph of the Americans in the 4x100 medley relay.
The winning quartet was composed of Helen Noble, Jacob Foster, Kelly Pash, and Jonathan Kulow, and they secured first place with a time of 3:44.71. This time also set a new Pan American record, surpassing the 3:48.27 held by Team USA since Lima 2019.
Second place went to the Canadians Javier Acevedo, Gabe Mastromatteo, Maggie Mac Neil, and Mary-Sophie Harvey, with a time of 3:46.20.
The final spot on the podium was claimed by Brazil, with their team of Guilherme Basseto, Joao Gomes, Clarissa Rodrigues, and Stephanie Balduccini, finishing in 3:49.24.
The United States concluded Monday's events with five gold medals. In addition to the mixed medley relay team, they had Josephine Fuller and Adam Chaney win the 100-meter backstroke, Jacob Foster triumph in the 200-meter breaststroke, and Paige Madden take first place in the 800-meter freestyle.
Canada earned two first-place finishes with Maggie Mac Neil (100-meter freestyle) and Sydney Pickrem (200-meter breaststroke), while Brazil reached the top of the podium thanks to the performances of Guilherme Santos (100-meter freestyle) and Guilherme Costa (800-meter freestyle).
