Argentina and the Independent Athletes Team are go for gold in racquetball

The women's doubles final between the two teams will take place on Tuesday.

Monday, october 23nd, 2023.- The duo from the Team of Independent Athletes, composed of Gabriela Martínez and María Rodríguez, defeated their counterparts from Bolivia (Angélica Barrios and Jenny Daza) with a 3-1 victory, securing a spot in the women's doubles racquetball final at Santiago 2023.

The Central American team, who won a silver medal in the previous Pan American Games in Lima 2019, now aims to claim the gold. However, to achieve that, they must first defeat Argentina (represented by the duo of Natalia Méndez and María José Vargas), who, in the semifinals, won 3-2 against the powerful Mexican team (Montserrat Mejía and Alexandra Herrera).

"We knew that Mexico is a world powerhouse in racquetball. For three or four Pan American Games, they've won all the gold medals, but that won't be the case now. We are very happy to have a good day in this final," said Argentine Natalia Méndez.

The battle for the women's doubles racquetball gold will take place on Tuesday, the 24th, at 1:00 p.m. local time at the Raquetas Sports Center in the National Stadium.
