Equestrian dressage: The United States wins gold in team event

The team led by Sarah Tubman showcased their expertise to achieve the top medal. Brazil finished second and secured their spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Monday, october 23nd, 2023.- At the Regimiento Granaderos Riding School field, located in Quillota, about 100 kilometers north of Santiago, the equestrian dressage provided moments of excellence and beauty at these Pan American Games by awarding the United States team the gold medal, with a total of 450.670 points.

The silver medal went to Brazil, totaling 443.343 points, with João Victor Marcari as their top performer with 78.362 points.

Meanwhile, the bronze medal was awarded to the Canadian team, who accumulated 431.937 points, with Camille Bergeron Carier as their best competitor, earning a score of 74.511 points.

In this way, the South American and Canadian teams secured their qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics, as the United States had already guaranteed their spot in this discipline.

It's important to note that dressage represents the highest level of training and elegance for a horse. The competition takes place in a 60 by 20-meter arena, where a panel of judges assesses the performance of the horse and rider.

Additionally, the individual competition determined the top 20 riders who will compete for individual medals on Wednesday. The ranking, at the end of the day, is led by the Ecuadorian Julio Mendonza Loor with 78.617 points, followed by Víctor Joao Marcari with 78.362 points and Sarah Tubman with 76.872 points.
