Colombia celebrates in Pan American Weightlifting thanks to Jhonatan Rivas

The native of Cartago won the gold medal in the 102-kilogram category.

Monday, october 23nd, 2023.- Once again, the Gimnasio Chimkowe in Peñalolén was the venue for hosting the best weightlifters in the continent. This Monday, medals continued to be awarded at the Pan American Games Santiago 2023 in that facility.

This time, it was the turn for the men's 102-kilogram category, where the gold medal winner was Colombian Jhonatan Rivas Mosquera.

Hailing from Cartago, who had previously won the top spot in the 96-kilogram category in Lima 2019, secured first place by lifting 176 kilograms in the snatch and 206 kilograms in the clean and jerk, accumulating a total of 382 kilograms.

The silver medal went to Cuban athlete Juan Carlos Zaldívar, who first lifted 166 kilograms in the snatch, then managed 209 kilograms in the clean and jerk, totaling 375 kilograms.

The last spot on the podium was claimed by Venezuelan athlete Jhohan Sanguino, who achieved an Olympic total of 371 kilograms, thanks to 166 kilograms in the snatch and 205 kilograms in the clean and jerk.
