Swimming: United States achieves a golden double in the 100 meters backstroke

Josephine Fuller won the female’s category, while Adam Chaney celebrated victory in male's category

Monday, october 23nd, 2023.-  The United States continues to stand strong in the Pan American Games Santiago 2023, and swimming is yielding significant results for the medal leaders, as demonstrated in the 100 meters backstroke event, where they claimed the top spot on the podium in both the female's and male's categories.

Josephine Fuller won the gold medal in female's category with a time of 59.67 seconds. The silver medal also went to a representative of Team USA, thanks to Helen Noble, who recorded a time of 59.84 seconds. Third place went to the Canadian Danielle Hanus, with a time of 1:01.49.

Among the males, the new Pan American champion is Adam Chaney, who clocked in at 54.20 seconds.

The second place went to a South American, as the Argentine Ulises Saravia stopped the clock at 54.23. The bronze medal was awarded to the Canadian Blake Tierney, with a time of 54.25.

These winners add to the list of victors for the day, which already includes the Canadian Sydney Pickrem and the American Jacob Foster in the 200 meters breaststroke, and the Canadian Maggie Mac Neil and the Brazilian Guilherme Santos in the 100 meters freestyle.
