Matías González secures bronze medal for Chile in water skiing

Mexican athlete Patricio Font took the gold, with Canada claiming the silver in the water skiing figures final.

Monday, october 23nd, 2023.-  Skier Matías González secured a bronze medal in the water skiing figures final, which took place at Laguna Los Morros in San Bernardo, adding Chile's third medal in this sport.

González accumulated a total of 10,170 points, finishing behind the Mexican Patricio Font (11,910), who took the gold, and the Canadian Dorien Llewellyn (10,690), who earned the silver medal.

"This is something I've always wanted: to represent Chile in the Pan American Games and take home a medal. Now I can say I've achieved it, and I'm very happy," stated González.

"It was incredible, the level was very high. It's an honor to win this medal," added the 15-year-old Chilean, who has achieved this great sporting milestone in figures and could potentially add another medal in the Overall event tomorrow.

Martín Labra, the other Chilean in the figures final, didn't score enough points to step onto the podium and finished in fourth place.
