Haiti continues to make history in Taekwondo, adds second medal

Aliyha Shipman won the Pan American bronze in the -67 kilogram category.

Monday, october 23nd, 2023.- The Pan American Games Santiago 2023 are making history for Haiti, as they secured a second medal in taekwondo.

This time, Aliyha Shipman won the bronze medal by defeating Ecuadorian Dayana Folleco with a score of 2-1 in the -67 kg category at the Centro de Deportes de Conctacto of the Estadio Nacional.

The match was closely contested for the Haitian, as she lost the first round 5-3, tied the second round 3-3, and in the third, she won 14-10, bringing glory to her country.

After winning the bronze medal, Shipman said, 'I'm very happy; it's incredible to be on the podium at the Pan American Games.'

Shipman's bronze added to the silver medal won by Ava Soon Lee last Sunday, who competed in the same category but was defeated by Mexican Leslie Soltero.
