Monday, october 23nd, 2023.- With Cumbia Villera, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, and the song 'Life is life' - which went viral in football through Diego Maradona - Argentina truly felt at home in the Arena Parque O'Higgins. The energy was so good that they overcame a tough challenge with great skill to defeat Cuba and advance to the semifinals of female's volleyball.
Under the leadership of María Luz Cosulich and with the strength of Daniela Bulaich and Dalma Pérez, the Argentine team took advantage of the doubts of the Caribbean players in crucial moments. After a close first set (25-23), they comfortably won the next two sets (25-16 and 25-15) to secure a solid 3-0 victory, even giving themselves the chance to field a more alternative team."
With this performance, Argentina advanced to final phase as the second-place team in Group A, and they will face Chile, Mexico, or Colombia in the repechage to access the semifinals. This is a stage they are aiming to at least defend the bronze medal from the Pan American Games Santiago 2023.
"In the first set, we were a bit anxious, made mistakes, but we settled in because we knew we were going to win. We didn't expect so much support; generally, we don't have that much, but we're very happy with the stadium," stated Tatiana Rizzo after giving shirts to her fans.
Among the Cuban players, Laura Suárez provided an assessment: "I think the eagerness to win and achieve victory played a trick on us. We have a lot of work ahead of us, and we needed more time to bond as a team, but we hope for a bright future.
