The Grimalt cousins stand strong in beach volleyball

The Chilean duo prevailed in two sets against their Paraguayan counterparts, solidifying their position in Group A of Santiago 2023.

Sunday, October 22nd.- The cousins Marco and Esteban Grimalt achieved their second victory in beach volleyball at the Pan American Games Santiago 2023 by defeating the Paraguayan pair of Giuliano Massares and Gonzalo Melgarejo with scores of 21-18 and 21-13 in a match of Group A. 

In the first set, Marco Grimalt started somewhat erratically in the early points, but gradually improved his game and secured points with his spikes, allowing Chile to close the first set with a score of 21-18. 

In the second set, the Chilean duo was much more solid and gained a significant advantage from the beginning, allowing them to win the match with a score of 21-13. 

The next match of the Grimalt cousins will be on Monday, October 23rd, when they face the Mexicans Miguel Sarabia and Juan Virgen, starting at 7:00 p.m. local time at Parque Peñalolén. 

In another match of the beach volleyball competition in Santiago 2023, the Chilean duo of María Francisca Rivas and Chris Vorpahl secured a victory by defeating the Ecuadorian pair of Karelys Simisterra and Ariana Vilela with scores of 21-17, 16-21, and 18-16, marking their second win in Group A. 

The national duo will aim to advance to the round of sixteen on Monday, October 23rd, starting at 8:00 p.m. local time, when they face the Mexican pair composed of Abril Flores and Atenas Gutiérrez, with both teams having the same score.
