Modern Pentathlon determines its finalists in the male’s competition

Emiliano Hernández from Mexico and Andrés Torres from Ecuador lived up to their favoritism and won in their groups in the semifinals of this discipline, which offers direct qualifications for Paris 2024.

Sunday, october 22nd, 2023.- On Sunday afternoon, the semifinals of the modern pentathlon in the male's category were held, featuring two of the leading figures in this discipline at the Pan American level.

On Group A, the winner was Emiliano Hernández from Mexico, who in August of this year earned the right to represent his country in Paris 2024 after finishing second in the world championship of this discipline held at the end of August in Bath, United Kingdom.

Emiliano Hernández from Mexico and Andrés Torres from Ecuador lived up to their favoritism and won in their groups in the semifinals of this discipline. Torres is the first specialist from his country to achieve a podium in an International Circuit Challenger. He was the champion of the Junior Pan American Games in Cali (2021) and the Pan American Championship in the discipline in 2022, where he secured his spot for Santiago 2023.

As for Team Chile, Esteban Bustos and Martín Gajardo managed to qualify for the final by finishing seventh in their respective groups.

In total, 18 athletes will compete for the Pan American gold in this discipline, which consists of sword (fencing), swimming (200m freestyle), equestrian show jumping (12 jumps), and the final event, the laser-run, which combines shooting and running.

The first athlete to cross the finish line will claim the gold medal.}
