Sunday, october 22nd, 2023.- As it happened in the men's competition on Saturday, now it was the turn of women's artistic gymnastics, both team and individual events, which offer scores that count towards the following qualifying rounds taking place during the week.
In a competition that provides direct qualification spots for Paris 2024, the teams from Mexico and Panama stood out in the first session, setting the stage for what was to come. Then, the powerful United States team, led by gymnast Jordan Chiles, emerged to win the gold, and Jordan Chiles also secured first place in the All-Around.
Chiles expressed her excitement and gratitude for the support from the Chilean crowd, saying, "It was incredible. I loved the arena; it was beautiful. I'm just taking it event by event, just breathing, focusing on my teammates' energy, and having fun. It was incredible, again. It was a very intimate space, like all the fans felt super close. I take confidence in hearing the fans and hearing the noise; it helps to concentrate actually. I had a great time."
She also praised the facilities at the Collective Sports Center, "Of course, I loved the venue. I love everything, honestly, and it was really cool. I love the colors. Honestly, I love Chile. I do, I love, like I was saying, the people, the culture, everybody is so nice. Although some of us may not be able to speak Spanish or something, they understand that, and I really appreciate that everybody is just accommodating to us as U.S. citizens and making sure we get to where we need to. And the transportation and everything has been really amazing. I honestly would have to put this place on my top five list of places I love."
In the competition details, the United States won the gold for the combined score of all four apparatus, totaling 165.196 points. Behind them, Brazil scored 161.564 points to secure the silver, while Canada earned 154.230 points, securing the bronze.
