Sunday, October 22nd, 2023.- Everything seemed to be going in favor of Cuba against Venezuela. Eight minutes into the Santiago 2023 baseball game, the islanders were already up 2-0 in the second inning. Two minutes later, they increased their lead to 3-0, while the Venezuelan team hadn't even reached second base. 

It was all in favor of Cuba. 

But luck slowly started to change in favor of Venezuelans. A comeback began, and due to successive Cuban errors, Venezuela managed to extend their lead to six runs, making it 6-3. 

Then, the game started to be dominated by Venezuela, and it seemed they were on their way to victory. 
However, the excitement renewed in Cerrillos when Cuba narrowed the gap with a spectacular home run, bringing the score to 5-6 in the sixth inning. But it wasn't enough for the islanders. Venezuela managed to maintain their lead and secure a thrilling and emotional victory. 

With this win, the Venezuelans have recovered their hopes of advancing to the next round of Santiago 2023, although the task is not easy. They must defeat Colombia in the next match on Tuesday, October 24th, and hope that Brazil doesn't defeat Cuba to secure their spot in the final round.
