Chile defeats Argentina in 3x3 basketball, advances to semifinals

The national team secured their second victory, and they will face Mexico tonight.

Sunday, october 22nd, 2023.- The Chilean 3x3 basketball team secured their second victory by beating Argentina 22-17 in a tight and exciting match in Group C of the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago.

This is the second win for the national team, as they had also defeated Uruguay the previous day, securing the top spot in their group, which also includes Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

Kevin Rubio, one of the standout players in the match, commented on this significant victory. "We are happy to finish the group stage as leaders. It's crucial to have victories in the group stage to ensure a good matchup. We faced two very physical teams, true warriors, but we showed that we are fighters too and gave it our all on the court. The fans who came to support us had a significant impact, and we are very grateful to them," he analyzed.

Tonight, at 8:30 p.m., Chile will face Mexico, aiming to secure a spot in the semifinals. In a discipline that contributes to the Olympic ranking, the home team is growing increasingly hopeful of winning a medal. "Our appetite for medals has been there since the beginning of the competition. We take it one game at a time, but the goal is the medal, and we will fight for it with everything we have," Rubio concluded.
