Sunday, October 22nd, 2023.- The Centro de Entrenamiento Olímpico located in Ñuñoa, in the northeast sector of Santiago, was buzzing on Sunday. The venue was filled with local fans who came to support Denisse "La China" Bravo in the boxing event at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago. 

The Chilean boxer faced off against Costa Rican opponent Nicole Barrantes in the round of 16 in the 54-kilogram category. 

The homegrown fighter started strong in the first round, even knocking the Central American boxer down, which sent the Chilean fans into jubilation. 

"La China" continued to dominate throughout the fight and secured a clear victory. The unanimous decision from the judges was 5-0 in favor of Bravo, allowing her to advance to the next round. 

In the quarterfinals, Denisse Bravo will face a tough opponent, as she will go up against Canadian boxer Scarlett Delgado, who had a bye in the first round.
