The American, an Olympic champion in the discipline, shattered the previous record set in Lima 2019 and secured a new gold medal for his country.

Sunday, october 22nd, 2023.- The eyes of sports fans have been focused on the Polígono de Tiro de Pudahuel, as in the northwestern commune of Santiago, the first gold medal for the locals was won by Francisca Crovetto in female skeet shooting.

Then, it was the men's turn, with the American superstar Vincent Hancock as the main protagonist. The three-time Olympic champion didn't disappoint, as he clinched the gold medal at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.

The current champion from Tokyo 2020 shone in the Chilean capital, not only by winning the top spot but also by setting a new Pan American record with 57 points, surpassing the 50 achieved by his compatriot Christian Elliott in Lima 2019.

Hancock faced tough competition on South American soil, particularly from the Argentinian Federico Gil, whom he narrowly defeated, relegating him to the second position. The podium was completed by the Peruvian Nicolás Pacheco, who scored 44 points.

For the host country, Chile, Héctor Flores finished in the fourth position with a total of 32 hits.
