A strong entry in female's beach volleyball with Americans Quiggle and Murphy

The duo composed of Corinne Quiggle and Sarah Murphy defeated the Guatemalan team of Paola Alvarado and Natalia Girón, who are part of the Independent Athletes Team, in two sets.

Sunday, october 22nd, 2023.- Female's beach volleyball continues to develop in Parque Peñalolén on this Sunday of the Pan American Games Santiago 2023, with the United States duo taking a significant step forward in Group B.

The duo composed of Corinne Quiggle and Sarah Murphy defeated the Guatemalan pair of Paola Alvarado and Natalia Girón, who belong to the Independent Athletes Team, with scores of 21-13 and 21-11.

"We are very excited to be here, and we have really gotten into the swing of things. The atmosphere is wonderful. La Villa is beautiful, and the mountains in the background are stunning. We are very happy to be here and compete in the coming days," Quiggle declared after the victory.

With this result, the Americans have secured their advancement in the tournament, although it remains to be determined whether they will advance directly to the quarterfinals or have to compete in the round of sixteen. Meanwhile, Alvarado and Girón face a challenging path to progress in this phase after losing both of their matches.

In the other match of Group B, the Argentinian pair composed of Ana María Gallay and Fernanda Pereyra defeated the Peruvian duo of Claudio Gaona and Lisbeth Allcca with scores of 21-16 and 21-15, securing their second victory.

On Monday, the United States and Argentina, starting at 11:00 a.m., will determine which of the two teams secures a spot in the top eight and who will have to compete in the round of sixteen.

It's worth noting that the top pairs from each of the four groups will secure their place in the quarterfinals, while the second and third-placed teams must go through the round of sixteen.
