Peruvian Cristhian Pacheco is two-time Pan American Marathon Champion

The athlete revalidated his triumph achieved in Lima 2019 and won the first gold for Peru in these Pan American Games Santiago 2023.

Sunday, octuber 22nd.- Sunday's action in these Pan American Games 2023 began early in the morning with the Male's Marathon, a race that had a circuit with the esplanade of Parque O'Higgins as the starting and finishing point, covering 42.195 kilometers through the main streets of Santiago.

The great winner of the day was the Peruvian Cristhian Pacheco, who with a time of 2:11:14 won the first gold for his country in this Pan American event of Santiago 2023.

The man born in Huancayo led most of the race, except in the fourth stage, when he dropped to sixth place. This dosage gave him results, since in the second half of the circuit he surpassed all his rivals, including the Chilean Hugo Catrileo (2:12:07), who finished second. Third finished the also Peruvian Luis Ostos (2:12:34).

With this tremendous triumph, Pacheco also managed to revalidate the gold medal won in Lima 2019, being the second athlete to win the Pan American championship twice after Brazil's Vanderlei de Lima, first in Winnipeg 1999 and Santo Domingo 2003.
