United States leads the medal table at Santiago 2023

The country that has won the most Pan American Games, accumulated 20 medals on the first day of competition.

Saturday, Oct 21st.- At the end of the second official day of competition, the United States leads the medal table of the Pan American Games Santiago 2023 with a total of 20 medals, nine of them gold, followed by Mexico, which accumulated 12 medals.

On Saturday, a total of 26 gold medals were awarded, with the United States being the country that obtained the most medals, making it clear that they are on their way to their seventeenth Pan American title (they have won 16 out of the 18 editions of this competition).

Canadian Gunnar Holmgren (mountain bike) made history at the Pan American Games Santiago 2023 by becoming the first athlete to win a gold medal, while the American Paige Madden set the first record of this competition in the 400 meters freestyle swimming. Shortly after, the Brazilian Guilherme Costa broke the record in the same event.

In the overall standings, the United States is in first place on the Santiago 2023 Medal Table with 20 medals (9 gold, 5 silver, and 6 bronze), followed by Mexico with 12 (6 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze); 3rd Brazil, 13 (4 gold, 3 silver, 6 bronze); 4th Canada, 9 (4 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze); 5th Dominican Republic, 4 (1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze); 6th Venezuela, 3 (1 gold, 2 silver, 0 bronze); 7th Cuba, 1 (1 gold, 0 silver, 0 bronze); 8th Argentina, 5 (0 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze); 8th Colombia, 5 (0 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze), and 10th Chile, 2 (0 gold, 2 silver, 0 bronze).
