Chile couldn't overcome the Dominican Republic in female's volleyball

La Roja was soundly defeated by the Central American team in three sets. On Sunday, they will need to defeat Colombia to keep their chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals of Santiago 2023 alive.

Saturday, Oct 21st.- The Chilean female's volleyball team made its debut with a loss to the Dominican Republic in three sets at the Pan American Games 2023.

On paper, a positive result was known to be challenging, and that's why the national team took certain defensive precautions. However, as the first set progressed, the opponent began to establish differences, thanks to the powerful work of the front line and the height advantage over the Chilean team. Thus, the first set went to the Dominican Republic with a score of 25-18.

After rearranging some positions to counteract the Central American team's power, La Roja began the second set with the goal of balancing the game, but this time they committed a series of unforced errors at the net, which the opposing team took advantage of to widen the gap and claim the second set 25-17.

The last part of the match was not very different from the previous sets. The Dominican Republic relied on the best of their repertoire: solid defensive and offensive blocks and powerful net smashes that thwarted any attempt by Chile to narrow the defeat. Ultimately, an expressive 25-11 in favor of the Dominican Republic ended the national team's hopes.

Chile's next challenges will be against Colombia on Sunday, starting at 8:30 p.m. local time - a match that will be crucial for their hopes of reaching the quarterfinals - and against Mexico on Monday at the same time.
