Saturday, Oct 21st.- One of the most anticipated competitions in the Saturday session of the Pan American Games 2023 was the final of the female’s 10-meter platform diving, where the double Olympic champion, Mexican Alejandra Orozco, was one of the favorites to win the gold medal.
The Mexican representative saw her dream of winning the gold medal shattered, as her compatriot Gabriela Agúndez, with a score of 361.55 over the six rounds, claimed the gold.
Orozco didn't start well in the first two rounds, and her lower score was seized upon by her synchronized diving partner, who secured the victory.
Agúndez scored 361.55 compared to Orozco's 340.80, and despite a strong performance in the final rounds, she couldn't surpass her compatriot.
The podium for the female’s 10-meter diving was completed by Canadian Caeli Mckay with 335.65 points.
It's worth noting that this discipline offers a direct spot for the Olympics Games Paris 2024, and Mexico already secured that prize.
