Abraham Sisters Meet Local Audience Expectations in Rowing

In Concepción, 500 kilometers from Santiago, the competition kicked off on Saturday at the Laguna Grande San Pedro de La Paz.

Saturday, Oct 21st.- The local crowd favorites, sisters Melita and Antonia Abraham, lived up to expectations by securing a spot in the women's pair rowing final. This delighted the audience that gathered at the Laguna Grande de San Pedro de La Paz, a venue located 500 kilometers south of Santiago. 

Also advancing to the final were the American pair Madeleine Focht-Verónica Nicacio, the Canadian duo Alizée Brien-Caroline de Paiva, and the Cuban pair Yariulvis Cobas-Milena Venega. 

The decisive race will take place on Wednesday, October 25th, at 09:00 a.m. 

In other results from the day, in the women's double sculls, the Canadian pair Olivia McMurray-Abigail Dent, the Chilean duo Antonia Zanetta-Magdalena Nannig, the American pair Hannah Paynter-Isabela Darvin, and the Paraguayan pair Nicole Martínez-Alejandra Alonso all qualified for the A Final. 

In the women's single sculls, the American Grace Joyce, the Paraguayan Alejandra Alonso, the Brazilian Beatriz Cunha, the Peruvian Adriana Sanguineti, the Mexican Kenia Lechuga, and the Paraguayan Nicole Martínez all advanced to the semifinals. 

In the men's events, the Argentinian pair Ignacio Pacheco-Joel Romero and the American pair Alexander Hedge-Ezra Carlson qualified for the A Final in the men's double sculls. 

In the men's double sculls, the Argentinian pair Agustín Scenna-Axel Haack, the Chilean pair Andoni Habash-Brahim Alvayay, the Brazilian pair Piedro Xavier-Tomás García, the Uruguayan pair Leandro Salvagno-Martín Zocalo, the American pair Casey Fuller-Mark Couwenhoven, the Mexican pair Alexis López-Miguel Carballo, the Cuban pair Carlos Ajete-Reidy Cardona, the Peruvian pair Víctor Aspillaga-Vincenzo Giurfa, and the Dominican pair Jancarlos Tineo-Juan Esquea all secured their place in the semifinals. 

In the men's single sculls, the Uruguayan Bruno Cetraro, the Canadian Shane Willis, the Brazilian Lucas Verthein, the Mexican Juan Flores, the American James Plihal, and the Peruvian Álvaro Torres advanced to the semifinals. 

In the mixed 8 series, the teams from Chile and Cuba were the first to secure their place in the A Final.
