Para Athletics: The United States Sets Parapan American Record in 200m T35

Brianna Salinaro clocked 34.67 in the T35 category, dethroning the Canadian Virginia McLachnan, who had set the record at Guadalajara 2011. Her compatriot Sidney Barta won in the T64 class.

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023.- Para-athlete from the United States, Brianna Salinaro, won the gold medal in the T35 (cerebral palsy) 200 meters and, in the process, broke the Parapan American record, previously held by the Canadian Virginia McLachnan (35.41 seconds). 

The 25-year-old athlete ran a perfect race and set a new continental record of 34.67 seconds. Previously, she competed at the 2020 Paralympic Games in taekwondo. 

The silver medal went to her compatriot Delaney Nolin, with a time of 35.98 seconds, while the bronze went to the Argentinian Milagros Mostaffa, with 36.09 seconds. 

The T64 class (physical impairment in the lower limbs) crowned the United States with gold, silver, and bronze. 

Sidney Barta led the event with 27.45 seconds, while Beatriz Hatz followed with 27.86 seconds. The podium was completed by Catherine Carey, with 28.72 seconds.
