Para Archery: the United States Wins Gold in Mixed Compound Open

The North American team triumphed over their Ecuadorian counterparts in the final. Meanwhile, Colombia secured victory over Brazil in a closely contested match for the bronze.

Tuesday, November 21st, 2023.- The United States. delegation achieved another gold medal on Tuesday, contributing to their standing in the Parapan American Games rankings. 

The gold medal was secured in the Mixed Compound Open event of Para Archery, taking place at the Archery Center in the Peñalolén municipality. 

The North American team outscored Ecuador 148-143 in the final, claiming the silver medal. The bronze medal went to Colombia, who surpassed Brazil for the third-place position with a score of 142-140. 

As the afternoon progresses on Tuesday, the finals of the Mixed Recurve Open will begin to take shape. The quarterfinal matchups include Brazil vs. Peru, the United States vs. Argentina, and Cuba vs. Mexico. Colombia, meanwhile, awaits in the semifinals. 

It's worth noting that in both categories of the discipline (open recurve and compound), athletes face significant limitations in trunk and lower limb mobility. Many of them are wheelchair users.
