Sunday, October, 22nd.- The Centro de Entrenamiento Olímpico had an intense day during the Pan American Games Santiago 2023. This was because the local crowd filled the stands of the Ñuñoa venue, as one of the main fights featured a representative of Team Chile: Tomás Barros, who would face the Argentinian Joel Marcos Mafauad. 

The spectators added emotion to the confrontation between the South American competitors, and as soon as the Argentinian fighter stepped into the ring, the boos echoed through the Ñuñoa venue. 

However, Mafauad was not deterred and ultimately won by KO. The Argentinian sent Chilean Barros to the canvas in the second round, earning a ticket to the round of the top eight. 

In the quarterfinals, Joel Marcos Mafauad will face the Ecuadorian José Gabriel Rodríguez, who won on the scorecards against the Brazilian Wanderson de Oliveira. 

In another of the notable fights on this Sunday, Dominican Alexy de la Cruz qualified for the quarterfinals in the 63.5-kilogram category after defeating Guyana's representative, Joel Williamson, with a comfortable 5-0 on the scorecards.
